The Burris Buzz
1st Grade News from Ms. Burris & Mrs. Griffin
Week in Review
We had a great week integrating our unit about careers with books, writing activities, and guest speakers. The students did an amazing job with their career presentations! We also began literacy and math centers. I am very impressed on the level of responsibility the students have shown in their independent and teamwork activities. Most exciting of all is the students began using their very own iPads this week.
Addison was our MVP this week. She was also our Teacher Helper.
The 1st Grade enjoyed a special visit from Dr. LaRusso and Mrs. Earnhardt for a careers presentation and story.
Bus Evacuation Drill
The class did a super job during the bus evacuation drill on Tuesday.
A busy week ahead...
Our focus this week in reading will be story elements using the story Elmer. In math, we will be engaged with numbers 1-120 in our math centers. In Social Studies, we will celebrate America on 9/11 by wearing red, white, and blue. We will begin Unit 1 of Letterland and will be doing the homework together in class to set an example for the remainder of the year.
