1. How did you and your significant other meet?

We were introduced by mutual friends who knew both of us and thought we’d be a good match.

2. Why did you choose your wedding destination? Does it have any significance to your love story?

We were inspired to get married in Italy when our good friends announced that they were moving from Canada to Abruzzo in order to open a bed & breakfast. We were the first guests before they officially opened the Villa a few months later. Our wedding was the talk of the village since something new was coming to town and promoting tourism in the area. The whole adventure was like a fairy tale!

3. Are there any special food items or recipes that is special to your relationship? Why?

My husband knows that the way to my heart is to cook with bacon.

4. Is there any advice you would give our readers:

a. if they are looking for love and having trouble finding it

Don’t settle. Wait to meet someone who truly makes you happy; don’t rush it.

b. want to maintain a happy and healthy relationship:

Be independent and follow your own passions, but also make time to have hobbies you can share as a couple.

Anita & Garreth

  1. How did you and your significant other meet?

Garreth and I met in the sauna of our local gym so I guess you could say we’ve always been “hot” for each other LOL. There were no other members in the sauna that day so we struck up conversation instead of sitting there in awkward silence. We ended up really hitting it off but it wasn’t until we ran into each other outside of the gym context that we began to build some interest and strong friendship was formed. This inevitably led us to realizing we were really good for one another and the rest is history!

2. Why did you choose your wedding destination? Does it have any significance to your love story?

I am a teacher so every March break we like to go and travel. We love going to Mexico and staying at all-inclusives because it’s such a relaxing trip and everything is pretty much taken care of for you. Mexico was our first vacation together, we loved it so much we ended up going back the following year. We always say to ourselves that we won’t do Mexico again and that we should travel to other destinations but we just love it there! I can’t be bothered with all the planning and stress of weddings and with having a wedding in Cancun, there are packages to choose from and we just have to show up! I like that!

3. Are there any special food items or recipes that is special to your relationship? Why?

We are foodies through and through. Garreth and I love trying out new restaurants and cooking/experimenting at home. There’s not really a special food item or recipe but our relationship certainly revolves around food. Every special occasion (like our birthday) we surprise one another with a nice meal at a new establishment (typically fine dining) that we’ve never been to before. We even started an instagram account once to document the various places but have since become inactive with that account.

4. Is there any advice you would give our readers:

a. if they are looking for love and having trouble finding it:

Love will happen where you may least expect it, you just have to be open and willing. All it took for Garreth and I was a simple conversation in a sauna. Sometimes not looking is when you’ll actually find it! Focus on personal growth and being your best self and others will gravitate towards that.

b. want to maintain a happy and healthy relationship:

Make time for date nights! They are really important. Be fully present when together — screens have been toxic to our relationship and it is still something that we need to try and work on.

Emily & Adam

1. How did you and your significant other meet?

We don’t really know exactly when we met (we had similar friends), but we “got to know” each other when we were both hired at the same company. We only worked together for a few months, but we had a very long bus commute together and the working conditions were difficult, so we bonded quickly. After I quit, we started dating and it’s been an beautiful adventure.

2. Why did you choose your wedding destination? Does it have any significance to your love story?

We lived abroad for many years and both of our families lived in the United States. My husband is from Miami and his entire family still lives there so we thought a destination wedding in Miami would be best for everyone. The venue was at a nursery in the farmlands of Miami and the entire wedding was outside. It was absolutely beautiful!

3. Are there any special food items or recipes that is special to your relationship? Why?

We are constantly cooking together. It’s a huge part of our relationship and how we show our love. We love making Middle Eastern and Indian food and we have a special appreciation for pizza and anything chocolate!

4. Is there any advice you would give our readers:

a. if they are looking for love and having trouble finding it:

There’s no magic formula. Things take time and aren’t always guarantee. Just be true and loving to yourself and it will happen.

b. want to maintain a happy and healthy relationship:

Show appreciation at every step — notice the small things and take the time to be grateful for your partner and your life together.
