SLANZA Central

Library Tour & Un-conference PD

Term 1 2014 PD days

SLANZA offers some amazing Professional Development to our members and the school community. We would like to invite ANY school staff that are interested (SLANZA member or not), to attend our Term 1 Library Tour around some of Palmerston North's libraries on Friday 28th March followed by a PD session on Saturday 29th March.

Come and catch up with your fellow librarians and find out what new and interesting things they have been doing.

This is great PD and a fantastic networking opportunity!

Ruahine Room

(Behind the cafe)

Gold coin donation to help with Morning Tea

Morning Tea will be served from 9.30am with the PD session kicking off at 10am.

Remember....Anyone is welcome to come along. This would be a great time for principals and literacy team leaders to come and see what their library team gets up to - or is missing out on!

The format of this day is an un-conference style where people have 10 minutes to share their idea and take questions about it.

Some suggestions are: things that have worked last year or you are planning for 2014, Apps, eBooks, new/improved changes to your library.

Please come along with a list of your three best/most successful books from 2013 to share - not necessarily the obvious ones, but something a bit out of the ordinary that was really successful.

We will be running a face-to-face version of the Readers Advisory (RA) module from SLANZA's Connected Librarians online professional development course. Learn how GoodReads can help you improve your Readers Advisory service for students and staff, join the SLANZA book group, and explore book lists online. Module includes RA handouts, and participants can earn the digital badge for this module.

HELP! Billets needed

Are there any Palmerston North locals that are able to take a billet (or two) for Friday night so that our our-of-towners are able to stay on for Saturday's PD session?

A great excuse for a pyjama party!

If any of our out-of-town visitors would like to carpool from your home town please let us know and we can forward your contact details to other locals in your area to arrange shared transportation.

For any Palmerston North locals or out-of-towners that are keen to carpool around the libraries on Friday, we will meet at Russell Street School at 11.30am. This is the final venue for the day and will be easier for you to depart as your cars will already be there for you.
