Hinduism and Confucianism
By Jason Chang and Kevin Huang
What They Have in Common
- In both religions, the purpose of life is emphasized
- Both religions contain Holy Texts (Hinduism's Holy Texts include the Vedas and the Upanishads while Confucianism's Holy Text is the Analects)
Hinduism
- Unknown founder and date of existence
- There is a belief in reincarnation, Karma (good things will happen to you if you do good deeds while bad things will happen if you do bad deeds), and a supreme being - Brahma
Confucianism
- Belief in deities and the afterlife not addressed (making Confucianism more of a philosophy than a religion)
- Founding date and founder known - Confucius between 551 and 479 BCE
