A Note from Principal Bennett
What an amazing night tonight! Over 700 of our students attended the dance and they seemed to be having a blast. We cannot thank all of our parents who donated snacks and water enough. Because of you, all students were able to eat and get something to drink. Also, much appreciation to our parents who signed up to chaperone. With the exception of some water bottle throwing and a few (minor) slips and falls it was pretty successful. Please take a moment to speak to your student about being careful when crossing in the dark after dances. It is safest if they cross in our crosswalks and wait for you to get to our u-drive or parking lot. And thank you to all of our families for having ALL students picked up by 8:30 p.m.!
This morning I had the opportunity to address our students on RioTV about the Firearm K9 Detection Units that will start visiting our campuses next week. We do not know when they will arrive on our campus, but watch my address below to hear what your students can expect when they are here with us.
Coming up on Thursday, September 1st is Back to School Night. It is also a minimum day with school dismissing at 12:05 p.m. so teachers can make final preparations for parents.
This is an evening where parents will follow your students' 6 period schedule and hear 10 minute presentations from each of their teachers. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with my address on the outdoor stage. Earlier in the evening will be our first PTSA Association meeting in the MPR at 5:00 p.m., our EL parent meeting at 5:30 p.m., and our Book Fair at 6:00 p.m. in our library. We look forward to seeing our families back on campus!
