Weekly Update - Oct. 4

Big picture

Happy October!

Thank you to all of those who attended our Open House, book fair and BBQ - it was lovely to meet so many families and spend time together. We also appreciate your support of our book fair. Big thanks to Mrs. Ryan, Jen and Steve Dafoe, Jonathan McDonald, Emily Lucas and many others who lent a hand for the BBQ and the book fair.

We had a successful Safety week, practicing many drills and welcoming several community partners into our school to talk to us about bus safety, bike safety and fire prevention.

Please do not park in the fire lane, your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Parents are reminded that if they need to drop-off/pick up their children during instructional time (9:20-3:40) to please check in with Mrs. Gallagher at the office. Please do not walk down to the classrooms directly. As well, if you are picking up during recess time, please do so from the office, not the yard. This has become a safety issue where sometimes children are picked up and teachers are unaware. Thank you for your support with these matters.

By now, hopefully you have read the LDSB Update about the potential of CUPE striking -- schools may be closed on Monday, October 7 if an agreement is not made. Please listen to the radio and check social media on Monday morning to determine the plan for the day. Families are encouraged to make a contingency plan for Monday, just in case schools are closed.

Have a lovely weekend,

K. Witley

Principal
