CRCC with CoderZ Sweeps the Nation
Over 37,500 students, from 14 states and 590 schools participated in the competition. At finals events in TX, PA, CT, MD, NY, NJ, NH, CA, VA, and upcoming in NV and WV, students competed face-to-face in exciting challenge missions. Intelitek have released their new curriculum to extend the competition learning into the classroom and are already planning the 2019/20 competition which will extend to more states and launch a National Finals.

CRCC uses the gamified missions of CoderZ in a competition format with a class, school and state leaderboard. After 3 weeks of Boot Camp, students compete from their classroom or home computer in Qualifiers and the top schools send students to the state finals.

Is Virtual Reality Becoming a Reality in Schools?
Imagine taking first graders on a trip to the depths of the sea, or high school juniors on a journey to Peru to explore Machu Picchu! Today's powerful and sophisticated virtual reality (VR) technology, such as Google Expeditions, is now putting these and other adventures within easy reach of schools and their students.
When we think of virtual reality, “entertainment” and “science fiction” are usually the first words that come to mind. However, virtual reality is not only very real, it can also serve a higher purpose in the educational sphere. Check out why Virtual Reality is making the leap into the classroom and how to make the most of digital field trip experiences. Virtual field trips give educators and students the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and turn any classroom into a brand new exciting environment.

How Technology Functions in Education and Personalized Learning
However, the educational community would disagree. The U.S. Department of Education has considerable resources that support the use of technology in education, including this 2017 document, Reimagining the Role of Technology in Education.
Technology has forever changed how we live, work, and learn. Tools like mobile devices and videoconferencing systems have added flexibility and collaborative potential to office spaces and classrooms, and the advancements keep coming. In fact, we've written at length about students' unparalleled access to technology - including why you should be teaching them the importance of digital citizenship - but there's a hot topic we haven't yet touched on: Technology is advancing personalized learning, and we're seeing more and more examples of how it positively impacts both students and teachers.
Explore further on getting parents on board with mobile learning and how technology is advancing personalized learning.
