Principal's Corner
Dear 9th Grade Parents,
Teachers and staff at WHS are working very hard to ensure our students' success but we need your help. We appreciate communication, feedback, and support from our parents. This partnership is vital to making sure that our students are successful.
Please help us meet our Attendance Goal of 90% of students in attendance on a daily basis. We are really close to meeting our goal. You can help us reach our goal by making sure that your child is in school every day and on time. Research states that strong attendance increases student learning. We look forward to seeing all of our Tigers in school each and every day!
The 3rd grading period begins on Monday, November 5th. Students will be issued new ID/Privilege cards on Thursday, November 8th. Please contact the 9th-grade office if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s updated card status.
Kindness Week starts November 13th!!! WHS SGA will host theme days and multiple activities during the week to encourage our students to spread kindness throughout our school and community.
Thank you for all of your support!!! Go Tigers!!!

8th graders and their parents invited to WHS on November 28
Eighth graders – members of the Class of 2023 – and their parents are invited to Waynesville High School to learn more about freshman courses and the scheduling process on Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the WHS Auditorium. A general presentation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
“We feel it is very important that students make quality course selections as freshmen to obtain a strong foundation for the rest of their high school careers,” says Theresa McNutt, WHS counselor.
The event helps prepare families to make decisions about the courses their student will take during the upcoming freshman enrollment. In December, the freshman counselor will visit Waynesville Middle School, present the WHS curriculum and ask families to return the course preference sheets the next day.
“This is a pressure-free environment that allows families to ask questions, explore the many options available and to choose the path that best suits the student’s long-term goals,” McNutt says.
For further information, please call Theresa McNutt at 573-842-2400 ext. 2448 or email: tmcnutt@waynesville.k12.mo.us.

Counselor's Corner
Scheduling Starts Early This Year
The registration process has been updated from previous years. Counselors will be in your student's classrooms to go over graduation requirements, course offerings, and to develop an Individual Career and Academic Plan of study (ICAP) during the month of November. Information will be coming home with your student at the completion of the ICAP. Students will be assisted in entering their own course requests for the upcoming year by the end of December. Parents and students will be able to see their requests in Eschool's home access center. Students will also head into the summer break with their full schedule for next year.
