iPad Management for Parents
Dear District 103 Parents,
By now, I’m sure you have watched your child interact with their iPad as a learning device. The iPad provides access to a plethora of learning opportunities for our students. As parents ourselves, we also want to provide you with some options to help manage your child’s activity on their device.
District Issued (Rent) iPads
For all district-issued iPads, the parent control feature is called ScreenGuide. What is ScreenGuide? How does ScreenGuide work?
To set up ScreenGuide, please follow THESE DIRECTIONS.
This collection of 11 short (roughly 1-2 min each) YouTube videos, explains how to use the different device management features that parents have access to.
Our goal with this service is to:
1. Provide families with an iPad management option that is easy to use and easy to understand, and
2. Offer a management option that ensures secure features that meet or exceed industry standards.
***Disclaimer – If you use the “Hide Apps” feature, the apps do not maintain their folder organization when they are un-hidden. This means if your child has organized apps into folders on their iPad and you hide them, they will not return to the folders. ***
BYO (grandfathered-in) iPads
For any BYO iPads, Apple has a number of parental control features that are free to use. Restriction settings can be applied to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Parents can:
Please consider applying these parental control features as a way to help your child behave appropriately, while using their personal iPad.
