Aboriginal Language

Language is extremely important to the Aboriginal people. Languages carry cultureal knowledge, so the loss of a language means the loss of cutural, of Aboriginal people's connections to the ancestos.

If I was a Aboriginal I would be knowbody If they took all my belifes away from me and all of my celebrations. But I am not a a Aboriginal person so I don't need to life with that but I would know how it would of hurt.

I think language is important to the Aboriginals because that is how tell people of there tribes and that is the way they were born

Place Names

The Aboriginal names for shellharbour has beenrecorded as both Yerrowah (meeting place), and Wonwin, (place where there were big fish). The Eurpean name Shellharbour refers to the large qaunitites of shells found in Aboriginal middens alonge the forshores in the early to mid 19th century. Due to the mining of shells in mid 19th century. for the production of lime these vast middens no longer remain.
