HIDDEN RIVER HEADLINES 2/21/2019

Principal's Message
Greetings Hidden River Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you and your family survived the "snowmageddon" over the past couple of weeks … what a crazy onslaught of weather! I know we were antsy to get back to school as I'm sure you were eager to send the kids back to their normal routines as well . Cabin fever set in at our house around day 4, so getting back into the routine this week was a good thing!
As we move into the 2nd half of the school year, please keep an eye out for all of the important dates and upcoming events that are on the horizon, communicated through these bi-weekly newsletters. Spring is a busy time of year as we start the planning and preparation steps for the 2019-2020 school year. We have the registration process in the next 6 weeks or so, where kids begin to think about their classes for the following school year. This is particularly important for our 8th graders as they put together their plan for high school. For those of you with current 5th grade students, we have our "incoming" 6th grade information night on March 18th, and there typically is a similar event at the high school for the incoming 9th graders in March as well. Starting in late April, all of our students will take the state assessments for ELA and Math, where they "show what they" know … our goal is that students truly give their best effort on these as it is a great measure for us, as a school, to evaluate our effectiveness and identify areas of growth. More information on these state assessments will follow in the next few newsletters. Spring also brings our annual Drama production, which is always amazing …. please carve out some time to come watch one of the performances in May.
All in all spring is an exciting time around here and, with how great our students have been so far thus far, we look forward to this 2nd half of the school year and the growth that they still have ahead of them. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or just need some support as we partner with you on behalf of your student(s). Keep up the great work on the home front … GO HAWKS!
