PTA Reflections 2020
Contest rules
Entries due January 15, 2020
National PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program
to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home.
Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts base on the 2019-2020 theme Look Within.
Choosing from one or all the following arts categories:
Dance, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual
Arts.
Submit your entries to Your School Office by
January 15, 2020 .
Qualified entries will be advanced to North Dakota PTA for state-level judging. In March a PTA Reflections celebration party will be held in Fargo, ND to honor all state-level participants and winners. First-placeentry from each category/ division will be advanced to National PTA for judging.
National awards may include paid trips to the National PTA Convention & Expo
in June, scholarships, trophies, medallions and more.

- Each entry needs to be accompanied by a signed and completed STUDENT ENTRY FORM. Make sure to
follow all OFFICIAL RULES.
- Entries should represent students’ unique creativity. Adults should encourage students but are asked not to
assist in any way with their interpretation of the theme or artistic expression.
- Try to participate in not just one, but two or more arts categories.
- Judging criteria (40 points total): INTERPRETATION (20 points) -- How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the artwork itself and student’s artist statement; CREATIVITY (10 points) -- How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentation; and TECHNIQUE
(10 points) --The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.
