Ohlone Family Connection

The passionate and collaborative work of our students is something to witness. This evening, I met with our Student Council and Ohlone Times via Zoom. Student government and the press? It doesn't get much better! Ohlone students are kind, inclusive, and willing to hear the ideas of others. They take the time to explain things to those who ask for help. The positive and supportive environment they work hard to maintain is inspiring. It reminds me of how empowering kind human interactions can bring about change and growth in our community. You have GREAT kids. I can't wait to see what they will do this year. Their hearts ache for Suki and Prince. They already have something in the works.

We are off next week, and I hope you have a restful November break. I am looking forward to quiet time with my family. Thank you again for taking care of our community and each other during this increasingly challenging time by maintaining your family cohort and avoiding non-essential travel.

Take care. Enjoy this special time with your amazing children!

Email Free November Break 11/23-11/27

The staff and I will be taking a hiatus from email for the entire November break. I am instructing them to not check or send one single email next week. We will close the laptop after school on Friday, November 20 and will be back online on Monday, November 30th. We all need a break from the screens and to focus on family :). Please do the same!

Supporting Learning at Home - What is Instruction?

That picture is from The New Yorker. I could not resist :).

Supporting Learning at Home: What is Instruction?
The first module in the new PAUSD website, Supporting Learning at Home, is entitled “What is Instruction?”. To learn, human brains need time to interact with and apply new skills and information. Effective instruction is organized to provide time for students to practice, collaborate, and receive feedback about their progress. The module includes an overview of the elements of instruction, how those elements fit with synchronous and asynchronous instruction, and ideas for supporting learning at home.
