Miss Tracey's Class

January 2016

Happy New Year!

I hope this finds you all well and staying warm in these frigid temperatures. I hope, too, that you all had a joyful yet peaceful break. We enjoyed seeing all of the children this week and look forward to an exciting second semester! We have started January off with the theme of Birthday and will be finishing the month with a Snow theme. We have been focusing a great deal on number concepts since we have returned and continue working on our literacy skills, as well. Lots of fun and learning ahead!

Here is some information that you may find helpful as winter begins to bring us snow and falling temperatures:

Early Childhood will be following an alternate schedule in case of two-hour delays this year. PM classes will take place as usual, and AM classes will be shortened. This is different than in recent years, so please take note.

'Tis the Season

Just a reminder ~ as winter is upon us, please be sure that your child is dressed to play outside each day: mittens/gloves, hat, boots (if snow). We go outside until it feels like 15 degrees. We always check the wind chill in case the temperature and winds make it feel terribly cold. Finally, please keep in mind, as illness becomes more prevalent, your child should be symptom-free for 24 hours from the following, before attending/returning to school: fever, diarrhea, infection, vomiting. We want to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

Kindergarten

If your child will be going to Kindergarten next year, the date for this year's Kindergarten Round Up is Thursday, April 14 from 5-7 pm in your home school. At this time, you and your child will be able to visit your home school, meet the Kindergarten team, gather information for next year, and possibly take a bus ride. We will also be holding transition conferences at your child's home school, to allow you a chance to meet the receiving staff, share information about your child, and have any questions answered, that you may have. These conferences will begin at the end of this month and continue through April. I will be in touch with you, to let you know the dates and times that conferences have been scheduled.

THANK YOU!!

During the month of December, we collected money for one of our EC families in need. Thanks to you, we collected over $350 in change! That is truly AMAZING, and such a gift to this family. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your willingness to help.

Welcome and Goodbye

We would like to welcome Jamir to our morning class. He joined us in December, and we are so happy to have him with us.

On the other hand, Lilly will be leaving us; and we will miss her terribly. We wish her well in her new class. Additionally, Gabriel will be moving to the afternoon class, giving us two Gabriel's in the afternoon.
