Library News
December Edition
Happenings
Lots of things happened in the library during the short month of December. Mrs. Smith brought her GT students to the library to have a lesson on research techniques and sources. Each student created a MSIP folder in their Google Drive, linked their drive to the Gale databases and left with a packet of useful tips, suggestions and guidelines. The library hosted 6th grade social studies classes as they listened to a presentation on Cuba from our very own custodian, Mr. Omar Perez. Mr. Perez shared information on his life in Cuba. Thank you Mrs. Phearse and Mr. Graham for organizing this event. ELA classes visited and had students check out books for the long holiday break.

Benefits of Reading
Instead of allowing students to listen to music when they finish their work. Encourage them to read their library book. Independent reading not only benefits the reader but also benefits the teacher. Reading increases writing skills, comprehension, creativity, memory, etc, etc. Books are not just for SSR time. We should be reading across the curriculum.
Challenge: Unplug your students, have them read!!!!
