Dear Parents,
Hickory Dickory Dock we learned about the clock!
Schedule is a very important part of school life. When children get used to a certain schedule and routine, they know what to expect and when. This is a great way to eliminate arguments and frustration for teachers, parents, and the children.
These are 2 meaningful things that will help us understand the importance of having a schedule and follow it:
Consistency
Learning and consistency go hand in hand! Schedules help us as adults to know what we expect from our children so that we are not asking too much. Consistency is good for children as well as they are also aware of what we as parents expect from them as well.
Independence
Even though children are on a schedule that we facilitate, schedules can help children feel a little more independent. When children know what to expect, they don’t have to be reminded to do things such as pack their backpacks, get dressed in the morning, pick up their toys, and even clean their rooms. This helps them to take charge and do what is expected of them without being reminded. Your Children will feel much more independent and grown up that they are taking care of these small tasks without having to be told to by their parents or teachers.
Having a schedule and routine in place can help reduce power struggles and time delays.
This week we have talked about our class schedule and also about the importance of a clock. We learned and discussed Hickory Dickory Dock, and PK 4.1 really enjoyed making their own clock in our art center to show time.
