ALASKA ZOO: Grades K-2

Students: $9/student - You may use allotment funds if you can align it to your ILP.

Siblings: $9/person, ages 3+ - Payable with cash or check at the Raven office by Wednesday, January 27th.

Parent Participation: Parents are required to stay for the duration of the field trip.


Hands-On Animal Detectives

  • Zoo staff provides students with the opportunity to get hands-on with a variety of items from the Alaska Zoo's animal bio-fact collection (feathers, whiskers, horns, furs, etc.).
  • Students visit an animal behind-the-scenes with zoo staff.
  • In learning groups, students embark on a zoo scavenger hunt adventure!


*Please note that annual passes cannot be applied to program rates, as per Alaska Zoo policies.

ALASKA ZOO: Grades 3-12

Guided Encounter

Take a 1.5-hour guided tour to see as many zoo animals as possible, including 1 behind-the-scenes stop at the polar bear habitat!

Friday, Feb. 26th, 1-2pm

Who: Grades 3-12

Student Cost: $8/seat - You may use allotment funds if SCIENCE is on your student's ILP.

Stars of The Alaskan Sky

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered what you were seeing? What is that bright object on the horizon? And where is the Big Dipper? In a special all-live presentation, we'll take you on a tour of the night sky and show you what you can see during our fall nights. You'll learn about what constellations are visible, how to look for the moon, and what planets you can see. And best of all, it will be a balmy 68 degrees inside the planetarium!


30-minute full-dome feature showing & 30-minute live presentation

ANCHORAGE GYMNASTICS

Friday, March 4th, 11am-1pm

Who: Grades K-12

What: Two action-packed hours of instruction in gymnastics!

Cost: $20/student - You may use allotment funds if PE is on your student's ILP.

Parent Participation: Parents are not required to stay for the duration of the field trip.


What to Wear

"We do not allow anything with snaps, zippers, buttons and no jeans. Shorts, sweat pants, and leotards are worn by many of the children."


About Anchorage Gymnastics

"Our recreational program provides interesting experiences for children to develop gymnastic skills, with an emphasis on building self esteem. Anchorage Gymnastics Association is a progressive and unique gymnastics sports facility. The 22,800sq foot building offers training on all of the USA Gymnastics equipment. Training begins with the fundamentals of gymnastic movement and progresses to higher skill levels. Our primary goal is the development of children into outstanding students and young athletes who are mentally, socially, and physically fit. A strong body makes a strong mind. Our classes promote strength, balance, flexibility, speed, agility, and rhythm."

What: Tour through the Channel 2 students, including a live viewing of a portion of the 5:00 news report.

DINO-LIGHTS

Thursday, March 24th, 12-1pm
