Drones
Deadly or a necessity by Eli Kaplan
What is a Drone?
The term drone or an UAV is usually referring to any unmanned aircraft. An UAV is usually a military name for a drone. Drones are very helpful, for example a scientist can fly a drone over a volcano and study it a safe distance away. Also drones can drop relief efforts over a war torn country without the worry of someone dying in the drone.
Drones
Today there are many different types and models of drones. Drones have been apart of the the military since the late 90s but only came into civilians hands quite recently. Since then the government has put in some laws and restrictions to deal with some blurry areas.
The Predator
This drone is a special drone that is only used by the US air force. This drone can reach a top altitude of just over 50,000 feet. That's 15,000 feet higher than a commercial jet! Also the predator can carry a 450lb payload of gear. These drones are usually carry missiles, bombs, and cameras.
Drones For Sale
Drones that anyone can buy are starting to become of great controversy because of accounts of people using them to spy on other civilians. Also another reason people think civilian drones should outlawed is that people think that someone might put a gun on a drone or drop a bomb using a drone. Some drones are considerably cheap for example some high end drones can be purchased for only 200 dollars
A stealth Drone
This type of drone is used for military stealth missions for example this drone was a major part of the mission that killed Bin Laden. This drone has a 135 foot wingspan, can fly up to 60,000 feet above sea level, and can be less detectable.
Amazon Drone
These Drones are used to deliver items without using trucks or airplanes. Some people don't like this because it doesn't follows the laws of civilian drone use

Drones Used for Police Work
In a Southern state of India the police are using a new type of gadget, drones. The police got a fleet of drones to stop illicit mining near their borders. Still many civilians can't purchase drones in India due to laws but some police and railroad companies have been given the okay to start using drones
