What We're Studying and Learning...
Reading: We are still practicing context clues! Antonym definitions are grabbing us and shaking our brains!! We'll also take the time to study media literacy in more depth. That means we'll look at how colors, sounds, words, and pictures influence us while we are reading about certain items. (Use to your advantage the next time a child wants an item because of the flashy commercial!!)
Writing: We are finishing dictionary skills and spending time working on writing to prompts. We are using a variety of prompts to put into practice our skills of using paragraphs, good handwriting, spelling, and writing on one topic with a beginning, middle, and ending.
Grammar/Spelling/Handwriting: This week is spelling work at home week. Everyone is working on prefix and dictionary skills through spelling. For handwriting, we're working on the letter v and on connecting letters that have unusual starts or end connections (cursive k, r, and i are great examples).
Math: We are working on measuring the volume and weight of things using customary and metric measurement units. Everyone is really enjoying the hands-on activities we are doing. Check out the videos in the math section of our website. **A game and Gallon Guy/Gal are coming home too.
Social Studies/Science: We're studying the inherited, behavioral and learned traits of animals this week. We'll learn that some things are inherited while others are learned or connected to certain behaviors. Super interesting stuff!
