WEEKLY UPDATE K-5, APRIL 25
Dear K-5 families,
This week's weekly update is coming from Indianapolis, Indiana. I had to take a couple of days off work and travel with my son to beautiful Indiana as we begin the college search!
This week's update includes:
- Student enrollment for the school year 2021-22.
- MCA Make-up reminder
- How to check out library materials
- K-1 early reading and math tests
- Entering the Mall - changes to ensure safety
- The importance of being the guide on the side
2021-2022 Student Enrollment
We ask that you complete each form and place it in the pre-addressed stamped envelope and send it back to the district. This information is extremely important to us as we develop student schedules for next year.
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA's) - MAKE UPS
Some families were not able to make the first round of testing and or some of the students have just a little bit left of the test to finish. Below is a list of days and times for the makeups. We have one more make-up session next week.
See attached letter below. If you have any questions please ask!
Thank you to all the families that brought their children in to take the test. We know this is a challenging time for all and we very much appreciate all the sacrifices you have made.
Early Reading and Math Tests for K-1 students
New traffic flow at the mall
Please use the main mall entrance just beyond the old Nike outlet.
Thank you as we want all students and staff to be safe at school.
Being the Guide on the Side!
Even us adults need prompting and support when completing a task that is more challenging or when there is a task that is not necessarily fun to do, but we have to do it because as adults it is our responsibility. Our students are the same.
So here are some helpful takeaways:
- Be present in the morning and review with your child their schedule for the day.
- Be present as they get logged in to Calvert and start their daily learning.
- Make sure your child understands the directions and can complete the necessary tasks. This is when you may have to provide more or less prompting depending on your child's understanding.
- Make sure your child knows how to contact their teacher.
- Make sure you know how to sign up for In-Person support when you do not know or can not provide the prompting and support your child needs.
- Be present in the evening to ask specific questions regarding the activities the students went through to check for understanding.
