Blaze Bulletin
Edition 23 - February 6
Greetings...
Dear teachers,
Thanks for your work yesterday during the morning (ACT practice and Senior Boot Camp). Both events were well done, and our students were so well behaved. I think it was productive. The ACT practice went well, too. The testing atmosphere was good - quiet, serious. The scores have been scanned, and you will get the results back by Monday, hopefully. Please use the data to work with your PLC to determine how you can best impact areas that show a need for growth. Junior teachers, please plan an ACT blitz prior to the March 21st in school testing date!
Also, Mr. Odom loved coming by and watching your PLC work. We hit every department but not every PLC. Everywhere we went, you were on task and really having good conversations about helping kids. He did compliment our teachers on your professionalism before he left. I'm not sure if you realize, but not every school works as hard as we do. It matters to kids. #blackmanpride
"Let’s not play these kids cheap; let’s find out what they have. What do they have that is a strength? What do they have that you can approach and build a bridge upon? Education is all a matter of building bridges, it seems to me. Environment is bouncing everything off everybody in this country…. The question is how can you relate the environment to yourself?”
~ Ralph Ellison, “What These Children Are Like Lecture” 1963

2017-2018 zone exemption applications now available; deadline April 15
Rutherford County Schools is now accepting zone exemption applications for the 2017-2018 school year. You can find the application online.
The deadline for priority consideration is April 15, 2017. Remember, those who turn them in early get an answer within a few days while those who wait until the deadline may have to wait up to a month for an answer because of high volume.
As a reminder, classified employees must reapply each year to maintain a zone exemption so we can verify your continued employment. Certified employees must reapply when it is time for their children to change schools, i.e. from elementary to middle school.
Please contact James Evans at evansj@rcschools.net if you have any questions pertaining to zone exemptions.
