WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO CREATE THIS PARTICULAR ITEM?
I chose alphabets because it helps children identify the letter in the word and then they will know how to say it. for example the letter A, they see it, write it, say it, point to it, and are given an example. they will remember it and it helps begin their development in reading. I also chose shapes because for young children, shapes are the building blocks to understanding math.
HOW/WHY IS YOUR ITEM APPROPRIATE FOR THIS AGE GROUP?
this is appropriate for this age groups because Learning the alphabet is the first step for your child to learn how to read and through learning the alphabets, they come to understand that letters come together to make words and also understand that letters make up their name.
BRIEFLY EXPLAIN HOW YOU MADE THIS ITEM
I found letters in rainbows from Google images and put them on word documents. I found a fun object that begin with a letter and matched them together. I printed the letters out, laminate them and cut them. and for the shapes, I used coloured fabrics, I drew different shapes on it and cut it out.
HOW DOES THIS ITEM CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILD
By three, your child will use most of the speech sounds in her words, but might still pronounce words differently from adults. By teaching your child the alphabet and getting him practice it helps them to understand the sound of each letter. and through this you can read stories to them and they will gradually understand that letters come together to make word. this will improve their reading skills, you could teach them how to spell their name by teaching them which letters make up his name. you could get your child ready before they start school. but you must understand that kids learn differently. they learn by colours and picture, so do something fun with them at the same time they are learning something from it.
