Hillcrest HS Library Media Center
4th Six Weeks
2nd Semester Proves Busy
After a restful winter break, the Hillcrest Library Media Center has been busy with activity.
We were able to accommodate 285 classes throughout the six weeks!! A special thanks goes out to Dr. Savant, Ms. Huntley and Ms. Guinn for allowing us to collaborate on your research assignments! We were able to demonstrate and reinforce searching and locating books in our library through the online catalog.
Students also used several online academic databases, like GALE and Easy Bib to put together their research.
This six weeks we circulated 756 library items, including e-books! We are so proud of our students for their increase in reading for both academic purpose and pleasure.

New Year Displays by Mrs. Arvizu
Mrs. Arvizu helped co-teach with Dr. Savant, Ms. Guinn and Mrs. Jones.
Here, students are following along as she demonstrates a particular database that will aid them in finding information for their research project.
The 2nd Annual North Texas Teen Book Festival
We are gearing up for a HUGE TRIP on Saturday, April 23 to the Irving Convention Center.
Over 70 Young Adult Authors, like James Dashner ( Maze Runner Series), Marie Lu (Legend Series), Gayle Forman (If I Stay, If I Were Here), and C. Alexander London (The Wild Ones series) will be on site for a meet and greet!!
Please help us support this literacy event by encouraging your students to attend. We are requesting an activity bus to help transport students to and from the convention center that day. A sign-up sheet is located in the library at the circulation desk.
If you would like to help participate as a sponsor for the trip, please contact us immediately.
6th Annual Ethics Fair
The West End was transformed for two days to display the work of Hillcrest students for the annual Ethics Fair.
Students chose a theme (trust, friendship, equality, honesty, peace) to display via creative writing, visual or performing arts.
