From the desk of Mrs. Anderson
Gold Academy Families,
This week we are highlighting our Robotics Club! They had their first competition last weekend! The students have been working hard to prepare for this year. I want to thank Mr. Imel and Ms. Brosseau for leading this exciting opportunity for our students!
The Major Saver fundraiser has begun and they are excited to partner with the Decatur Township Education Foundation again this year. We had our campaign kick-off and the students are ready to get started on this fundraiser. There are a lot of great prizes for students to receive as a result of selling the Major Saver Cards. Any student who sells 12 cards will have the opportunity to ride in a limo and have pizza!
I am so proud of our students and the academic growth they made on their Renaissance tests! The students and staff are working hard to ensure that we are making gains in our achievement levels. Our staff is preparing our students to become “Tomorrow Ready!”
Gold Academy is Decatur Proud!

Assessment Change
The district has recently made the decision for students in grades 3-8 to use a new formative assessment called AIRWays. Students will be taking AIRWays as a replacement for Renaissance testing moving forward. Grades 3-6 will take this assessment between November 6th and November 15th in reading, writing, and math, and then again in February. AIRWays is a state-approved formative assessment that is designed to provide information about a student's progress and growth in relation to the grade level standards assessed on the ILEARN exam in the spring. 1st and 2nd grade students will continue to take Renaissance tests to measure progress in math and reading. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. LeMay, Assistant Principal, 317-856-0400 efxt. 8203.
