A Letter From Dr. Todd
Dear Families,
Happy May! Many letters this time of year begin with “I can’t believe it’s already here!” There is definite truth to that. Some days it feels like we were all just going through the motions of hybrid and transitioning back to 5 days a week, and other days it is unimaginable that we haven’t been a Mustang family for years already.
Reflecting on this year, it has been an exciting one for all of us. Together we have learned much and shared experiences that will remain with us in the years to come. Can anyone say hybrid? Yes - we did that together! The strength of our community and passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning for our students inspires me on a daily basis. Special thanks to all of you who contributed in many ways: leading and serving on our PTA, sending donations into the classrooms, sharing your talents virtually, arranging transportation before or after school, and supporting our work in countless ways. Thank you for supporting us as we have worked to provide rich, engaging, and well-rounded experiences for your children and for partnering with us to encourage the joy, wonder, and love of learning that we believe helps students develop into life-long learners and leaders.
The next three weeks are full of plans for continued learning, community building, and fun! Along with this fun, comes the Missouri Assessment Program testing. This test is called the MAP test. The MAP test will be given as follows:
3rd Grade will test the week of May 3
4th Grade will test the week of May 17
5th Grade will test the week of May 10
6th Grade will test the week of May 10
**More information will be shared by your child's classroom teacher
While we know it has been a challenging year getting our students caught up on academics during the pandemic, we are still excited to have our students show all they know and do their best! We do not expect our kids to be perfect, we just expect them to give their best!
For trusting us with your children, supporting our school, and partnering with us to make this such an amazing year, we are truly grateful! Thank you!

Farewell Mrs. Mahoney
Dear Mustang Family,
It's hard to believe that 6 years ago, I started working here at Duello. When I accepted the position as an Art teacher in the district, it was only supposed to be for 3 years. Wow!! How time flies! Everyone was very welcoming, accepting, and helpful. As some of you know, I live in Jefferson City but rent an apartment up here to stay during the week and go home on the weekends to spend time with my family. You have made me feel like part of a family which made this transition so much easier.
It has been a pleasure serving as an Art teacher at Duello, and the relationships I have formed here over the years will not be soon forgotten. The Mustang family has been very welcoming and supportive throughout my career here. I have enjoyed working with and learning from everyone including the students, and am ready to move on to the next phase in my life, retirement.
This change in my life will give me more time to be with my husband and travel to see my children who both live out of state now.
I leave my position at Duello feeling very fulfilled and confident that our school will continue to succeed and excel at all it does. Thank you to the teachers for everything they do for the children of this community: teaching them to be leaders, be resilient, have a "Can Do" attitude, to be good citizens, as well as the core subjects. Thank you to the families who have been so supportive of the arts as well.
I will truly miss working at Duello and seeing everyone's faces, staff and students alike. I will miss the small talks, smiles, and encouraging words from the teachers, staff, and Admin. The "Hi's, high-fives, and hugs from students will sorely be missed as I love the students as well as the staff.
Thanks for being a part of and sharing the memories of my last years of teaching! These will never be forgotten.
Once a Mustang, ALWAYS a Mustang!
