In addition, we have been working on developing a plan for a possible soup kitchen community service project. We have also been discussing digitally with a class located in Frederick County Public Schools to analyze text and gain diverse perspectives.
Social Studies
Mapping our school and regional world murals has been a focus in class recently. This past week we have been working on mapping the school and giving directions to a specific classroom in the school. The map must include a grid, a compass, a title, a key/legend, and a scale. Also us being apart of the magnet program we have to include Spanish into our projects.
Continuing with the map skills unit, wherein skills such as reading longitude and latitude and map making are taught. Weekly assignments such as the current event analysis are still required.World Languages

Hurricane Relief Drive
This year millions of Americans were affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Harvey damaged 207,000 homes of which 12,700 were destroyed. The total estimated costs of damage from Hurricane Harvey and Irma is estimated to be around $290 billion. Our magnet class sponsored a school wide hurricane relief drive to help aide in the cleanup and recovery efforts. We were able to collect over 35 buckets of supplies to send to families affected by hurricanes Harvey and Irene! Thank you for your support!
