April STEAM Book Challenge
Adkins Learning Commons
FROM THE PUBLISHER
Celebrating National Poetry Month with Edible Cars!
Edible cars? Yes, that's right. This month's design challenge includes food. In fact every part of your design must be made from food!
Challenge:
Design and create a car made completely from food edible by humans. Be sure to use the Engineering Design Process. Click here for the steps.
Materials:
*Food items such as donuts, cookies, gum drops, Twinkies, cupcakes, fruit roll-ups, licorice sticks, pretzel sticks, hot dogs, bread, etc.
*Non-food items will not be accepted, i.e., hot glue, tape, wire, etc.
Goal:
Discover how far your car can roll from the designated ramp.
Guidelines:
Every part of your car must be made from a food item that is edible by humans. Your design must look "like a car" and it must roll down the contest ramp on wheels also made from food.
In order to participate, you MUST bring your car to school on Wednesday, April 26th. On this day, you may bring your freshly made car to the Learning Commons to be tested on the Reading Porch. The winning designer will be featured on the morning news on Friday, April 28th.
Good Luck, Aviators!
Be sure to watch for next month's STEAM Book Challenge!
We are STEAMing it up here at Adkins Elementary this year! We hope all of our Aviators will choose to participate in these family fun STEAM challenges that incorporate
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
Please understand these are totally optional, and not required. We understand if you are unable to complete all of our challenges this year, but we hope you stretch your thinking, exercise your creativity, and enjoy some quality family time by trying at least one.
