8th Grade Battle of the Books Team
FIRST PLACE IN THE STATE OF IOWA
April 28, 2022
I am so proud of Caitlin, Evie, Stella, Bela, Regan, and Cassie on our Battle of the Books team. This group read 16 novels and met with Mrs. Lind over lunch breaks to discuss these books. They competed with over 40 teams across the area, answering questions and sharing their knowledge about these books. Their love of reading and dedication to the program helped them win 1st Place in the State of Iowa. This is an achievement that cannot be taken lightly! Congratulations, girls!
Please don't forget the LEGO League Showcase which will begin at 6:30 PM, Friday, April 29, in Dutcher Gym. These kids have some amazing things to share with you! A big "Thank You" to all of our volunteer coaches who gave their time to make this program a success.
Blessings,
Lynette Hackett
Principal
P.S.: Please remember that Shamrock Shuffle registration closes at midnight on Sunday, May 1.
Tomorrow is Charger Friday!
FAITH
EXCELLENCE
We are so fortunate to provide a K-8 Spanish program at St. Patrick Catholic School. The students not only learn to speak Spanish, but Mrs. Crawford also shares the culture with students. This morning she shared the history of Cinco de Mayo with 3rd and 4th grade students. She related the Mexican people's defense of their country to what is going on in Ukraine today.
SATURDAY, MAY 7
Registration is open now through midnight, Sunday, May 1. Invite your friends!
The 5K COLOR RUN/WALK begins at 9 AM on Saturday, May 7 and is an out and back from school. It’s untimed and is just for fun. Strollers are welcome, but no bikes or pets are allowed.
A shorter Kids Fun COLOR RUN begins at about 9:45 AM and breakfast follows the race.
Read more details on our race brochure. Share our event on social media to spread the word! The event is open to the community.
2 STEPS TO REGISTER:
- Entry fee is $13 for t-shirt, cool sunglasses, and breakfast (additional charge for larger shirt sizes). Indicate shirt sizes and pay here
- Print and fill out waiver and return to school or the parish office (students took home hard copies).
Breakfast only is $5 at the door. Runners need glasses/eye protection.

Cancer Awareness Week
The Student Cancer Awareness Committee is hosting this event May 2-6. We will create Cancer ribbons for loved ones who are battling and have battled many different types of cancers. We will honor them by wearing different colored shirts each day of the week with regular uniform bottoms. Read the letter with the color choices for each day.
