Changing Your Learning Option FOR 2ND SEMESTER!
Learning Option Changes for 1st semester have concluded.
Our school is already preparing for the second semester that begins on January 6, 2021. In order to properly allocate teachers and resources, the District is requiring families to notify the school from November 3rd to November 13 if they want to change their student's educational model for the second semester.
Please start to make your decision now, as the window for a request to CHANGE YOUR OPTION will ONLY BE OPEN November 3rd through November 13th. The form to request a change will be posted here along with our website and other social media starting November 3rd.
Gentle Reminder About Expectations!
As we start 2nd Quarter, please take a moment to review the following policies and procedures with your student. As a community we are doing well working together, but could see some improvement in the following areas:
MOVEMENT: Students are not permitted to stop in the hallways or courtyard at any time during the school day. All students should continue moving to and from class following the one-way hallway traffic patters. .
MORNING DROP-OFF/ARRIVAL: Students have two choices upon entering our campus:
- Go directly to 1st period.
- Go get a free breakfast in the cafeteria, and take the breakfast directly to 1st period.
*As a reminder, please DO NOT drop your child off prior to 7am
LUNCH: The only areas students are permitted to sit in during lunch are as follows:
- Cafeteria & outdoor cafeteria space
- The center courtyard area and the patio in front of the gym
DRESS CODE: We are seeing students bringing and/or wearing hats, beanies, and do-rags to school. Please note that head-coverings are not permitted on the WRHS campus. Students are also doing a better job with the holes in their jeans and the shirts that do not meet their pants, thank you for your support with dress code.
Dual Enrollment for Spring Semester!!!
Dual Enrollment registration for the Spring semester is now open. The Dynamic Forms are due on October 28 so please see your school counselor as soon as possible for more information.
- Please note that students who are taking an online course for the first time must complete the online readiness course through Canvas. Completion of the PHSC online readiness course is required prior to registering in any online dual enrollment courses. We highly encourage all students to access and complete the online readiness course now.
- Completion of the Student Orientation online is also REQUIRED for all DE students. Students who have not completed this course will not be able to register for Spring courses. Visit https://admissions.phsc.edu/start/high-school/dual-enroll/faq to access directions on how to complete the orientation.
Students may request advisement appointments with PHSC through November 13th. Beginning November 16th, advisement will only be accessible through the virtual drop-in platform which will be available through the first week of classes (January 15, 2021).
PSAT date is October 29th
MSOL 10th graders that have already responded to the school that they are testing will report to the Gym at the start of the school day. The anticipated pick-up time will be 11:30, your students can also contact you as soon as they are released to come to pick them up.
Math and Science Tutoring Opportunities
Students that are seeking tutoring in math can request free tutoring hours from Mu Alpha Theta members. Please complete the following form to request a tutor and we will set up a 1-hour Zoom meeting.
Science National Honors Society will be offering tutoring on Thursdays from 2:15- 3:15 pm. We will have members that will be available to help with science classes. We will have 2 options for people to participate: In-person or Zoom. In-person will be in room 3-103 and for MSOL each teacher will have the tutoring link posted for students in their course.

Norah Catlin Golf State Championships
Wrestling Team Announcements from Coach Ketler
The wrestling team is about to start officially start their season at the beginning of November. Any students that are interested in joining the team can still come out and join the team. Our first home preseason tournament on November 21st. The varsity team will host the 3rd Annual SGT. Simmons "Battle at the Border" duals with Polk County's Kathleen and Lakeland coming as well as Hillsborough County representative's from Wharton and Freedom along with neighboring Wesley Chapel school Cypress Creek.
Competing for the first time will be the Wiregrass Girl's Wrestling team at the 1st annual "Girls Brawl at the Border" with Hillsborough County teams from King and Leto H.S. coming to test our newly formed girls' team.
On December 1st, our varsity and JV team will travel to Zephyrhills H.S. for our season opener to take on the conference challenger at their home venue. Last year's match came down to a nail-biting finish where Wiregrass prevailed with an exciting pin from Andrew Martin who pinned Z-hills state-ranked heavyweight to seal the win for Wiregrass.
