Hansen Weekly Update
March 25, 2022
Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!
Happy Spring! It seems hard to believe that we just wrapped our final full week of school in March as we prepare to welcome in April at the end of next week! We have had a busy and exciting week here at the Hansen, filled with celebrations and highlights that exemplify the strength of our Hansen School community. Please be sure to read more below about three highlights in particular...the work of our Grade 4 students in Ms. Mahan's class for their role in leading our school-wide fundraiser in support of Ukraine, the work of our CAPT, parents, and students in helping to transform our building restrooms through the addition of positive messaging and decals, and Hansen's very own, Ms. Naomi Akan, being recognized as the Massachusetts Teacher Association's Educational Support Professional of the Year!
Please enjoy some of this weeks' Hansen highlights through the pictures below...
Creating A Culture of Achievement, Equity, Inspiration, and Joy!
Celebrating Ms. Naomi Akan as the MTA's Educational Support Professional of the Year!
We are excited to share that Hansen ABA Tutor, Ms. Naomi Akan, was recently announced as the 2022 Massachusetts Teacher Association's Educational Support Professional of the Year! This honor and recognition are so well deserved, as Ms. A. works tirelessly to support all students and staff and is such a positive force within our school and Canton community.
On Tuesday morning, members from MTA, local officials, School Committee, friends and family, and District Administration joined our Hansen School community to hold a surprise assembly of recognition in honor of Ms. A. earning this distinction and we could not have had a better start to our day!
Congratulations to Ms. Naomi Akan, the 2022 MTA Educational Support Professional of the Year!

Boosterthon!
Our Lt Peter M Hansen Fun Run kicks off on Monday, and we are thrilled about this year’s program!
We’ve asked the fundraising experts at Booster to power our Fun Run program, making our
fundraising simpler, more profitable, and more FUN. Our Fun Run event includes EVERY student in a fun, fitness event that focuses on character while helping our school raise some much-needed funds.
This year, our entire school is raising funds for Enrichment Programs! Our goal is to raise
$17,000 and, if you’d like to, we are inviting YOU to help!
Here’s how you can support Lt Peter M Hansen:
● Register your student on MYBOOSTER.COM by searching “Lt Peter M Hansen Fun
Run.” Then, use MYBOOSTER.COM to log donations for your student(s).
● Reach out to family and friends by SHARING your Student’s Pledge Page. With
MYBOOSTER.COM's smart sharing tools, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever.
The easiest way to get donations is to simply click the Facebook share button on your
student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star
Video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with
friends and family.
● Ask your child about the Sports City Worldwide Character Lesson of the Day! It’s a
fitness theme all about inspiring students to be active and activate their character.
Students will travel the world learning how to live and play with more character from
REAL kid-athletes. Our dynamic, documentary-style videos will teach your students
about Curiosity, Practice, Confidence, Humility, and Endurance. Join along by watching
the fun character videos with your student(s) on MYBOOSTER.COM.
Thank you for supporting our school, regardless of financial participation. We can’t wait for our Fun Run on 4/6!
News from the Rodman Early Childhood Program!
If you are looking for a preschool for your child, or know someone who is, please reach out to Mrs. Kilday, our Early Childhood Coordinator at the Rodman Early Childhood Program, at kildayd@cantonma.org.
Students must live in Canton and have been three years old by September 1st.
Children's Clothing Drive
The Hansen has once again teamed with some students from Canton High School in support of Cradles to Crayons and Project 351. These students are hosting a clothing drive from March 28-April 8, and will be accepting clothing in youth sizes 0-20 as well as adult small and medium. Donation boxes will be available in the lobby at the Hansen, and the students thank you for your consideration and support of their clothing drive!
