MasteryConnect Year End Roll Over

Principals and teachers,

Please be aware that on July 7, 2016, Information Systems will be rolling over (archiving) the data from Mastery Connect for the 2015-2016 school year. This will enable all users to start the 2016-2017 school year fresh with new rosters and so forth. The data compiled from the 2015-2016 school year will still be available via the Mastery Connect Archives, accessible through your normal Mastery Connect home page. For help with accessing this data, or for help with any Mastery Connect processes regarding the new school year, please contact your respective district Curriculum Technology Specialist.


Erasing all Content and Settings on your iPad if moving schools.


If you wish to recover the data on the iPad in the future, ensure that you have an iCloud or iTunes backup and that it is up to date. If you do not wish to recover data in the future, simply erase all content and settings.

Back up to iCloud

Tap Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup Tap Back Up Now

Back up to iTunes

Connect your iPad to your computer.
In iTunes, choose File > Devices > Back up. or
Right click (control click) iPad in device list and choose Back Up.

Once you have backed up the iPad, erase all content and settings.

To remove all settings and information from the iPad, tap "Erase All Content and Settings" in Settings > General > Reset.

Once the iPad has been erased, the iPad is ready to turn in.

Summer Professional Development

Chromebooks in the Cloud Classroom

Bring the Cloud to your Classroom! This Professional Development is designed to help educators effectively integrate Chromebooks and Cloud tools into a project-based educational framework. Participants gain experience using Chromebooks, evaluating online tools for educational use, and exploring strategies for teaching with this technology. This hybrid course has two in person sessions and weekly online discussions and assignments The in person sessions of this course will be taught using Chromebooks. We have a limited number available for you to use. If you have access to a Chromebook, you are welcome to use it in class.

The Connected Educator: Developing your Professional Learning Network

This four-week hybrid course helps teachers tap the educational potential of social media tools for your professional development and use in your classroom. Participants will learn how tools like Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google +, Facebook, and more can be incorporated into your Professional Learning Network (PLN). Along the way, participants will explore strategies for using social media tools to challenge and engage students, as well as improve parent-student-teacher communication. In addition to class time, participants will also have weekly online discussions and assignments.

Multimedia Projects with iPads for Elementary Teachers

The iPad’s powerful collection of multimedia tools provide new and innovative ways for students to demonstrate learning through creative and motivating projects. This professional development is designed to help elementary educators effectively integrate this technology into a project-based educational framework. Participants will learn to utilize the iPad to plan, teach, manage and evaluate a variety of student created multimedia projects tied to the core curriculum.

Online Google Tools (Google Apps for Education)

This courses introduces teachers to Google Apps for Education which is available for students in grades 3-12. Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a suite of secure web-based and collaborative applications that includes Documents, Slides, Sheets, Forms and Classroom. It allows students and teachers to work and learn together anytime, anywhere, and on any device. GAFE is hosted by Google, and is managed by Jordan School District. When students log into their school google account, they are seamlessly connected to the GAFE suite of productivity and collaboration tools.

The first class session will be taught in the ASB Computer Lab to introduce you to Jordan District's Canvas online learning system.

Utah Online Library: Preschool/Elementary

This 6 week online class is designed to help preschool and elementary teachers and library media specialists effectively use the wealth of information resources in Utah’s Online Library (formerly Pioneer Library) to enrich their teaching and students’ learning. The course guides participants through using the many databases of newspapers, journals and magazines as well as encyclopedias, videos, music collections and more. Each week participants add on to a resource list, as well as explore project-based learning activities and effective research strategies that ensure students benefit from the Online Library’s resources as well. The course weekly start day is Wednesday and all weekly assignments and discussions are due the following Wednesday at 11:59 pm. The materials are available for review starting on the Thursday before the due date.

Digital Citizenship for Secondary Educators

In this course participants will learn what digital citizenship is, how to teach students to be responsible digital citizens, and how to talk with students openly about cyberbullying and other potential pitfalls of social media. Participants will learn the how to model digital citizenship and develop tools and lessons to use with students of all ages.
