A Note from Our Principal
Hello North Beach families,
Last month the district delivered pulse surveys to family members, staff, and students. We have received the results of our 3rd-5th grade student surveys. While our students responded overall to the questions regarding remote learning more positively than the rest of the school district, the results reflected there are areas our staff can work on to improve the learning environment for our students. Our Climate Committee has been analyzing the results of the surveys and planning professional development that they will be presenting to our staff next week. We are waiting to receive the results of our parent survey and will adjust as we are able to improve the remote learning experience at North Beach.
Thank you to those who were able to attend the Principal Q&A meeting earlier this week. There were questions about school reopening (the district is working with the county health department and tying decisions to COVID data that can be found at https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health/covid-19/data/key-indicators.aspx), attendance during remote learning (https://www.seattleschools.org/district/calendars/news/what_s_new/attendance) and expanding social opportunities for students. School staff are working on finding ways we can provide additional opportunities for students to gather virtually for social interaction during the school day during lunch/recess. The PTA is working on finding ways outside of school hours to increase social time for students. As information becomes available, it will be posted in classroom newsletters, the Beachcomber, or on Konstella. Our next Principal Q&A will be December 14 7:00-8:00 p.m. I hope to see you there.
As the COVID pandemic continues, I want to remind our community that our counselor, Alysa Reid, is providing virtual counseling services during remote learning. She has provided information in this week’s Beachcomber. Read on for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Counseling Services During Remote Learning
Hello North Beach Families! I want to make sure everyone is aware that counseling services are still available (virtually, of course) during remote learning. As usual, I am offering small groups for students who need extra support (already underway for the fall) as well as consultations with parents/guardians and short-term individual counseling for students. Look for social drop-in lunch groups coming soon. If you have concerns about your child, please contact Alysa Reid by e-mail at arreid@seattleschools.org or leave a message at (206) 252-1535. For parenting articles, counseling updates and other resources, please check out my website at: https://arreid7.wixsite.com/nbcc.
