HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI

2 September 2022

Week 6, Term 3

Principal's Message

We’ve had a week of seeing our values in action. I was impressed to see students from the age of five years old showcasing the value of Courage while presenting their speech to a large group of their peers on Tuesday. Our guest judge for the Senior School Speech Competition, Judi Bilcliff, was very complimentary about the high standard of our students’ speeches. On Wednesday we couldn’t have asked for better weather for our Cross Country Day. The sun was shining and the value of Community was exceptional. Thank you to all our whaanau who managed to come and support our tamariki.

Another highlight this week was our Year 7/8 Information Evening. Our guest students did a fantastic job of sharing their learning journey and it was lovely to see some past students attend this evening too. Gathering student voice is a powerful tool in evaluating how well we’re doing and identifying areas to work on. Last week I gathered student voice from our Year 7/8 team and below are some examples of their feedback.

Bryony Botha (NZ Team Cyclist)

The Senior Team were privileged to have a visit from Bryony Botha (NZ Team Cyclist). She talked about her experience at the Commonwealth Games and showed us the Gold medal she won in the Individual Pursuit and and Silver Medal she won in the Team Pursuit. We saw her aerodynamic helmet, skin suit and her very light track bike. She even took time for photographs with our classes and some autographs. It was an inspiring visit for our students.

Free Lambs Available for Rearing

Every year during spring we need to find homes for our surplus wether lambs. These lambs are very suitable for pet day animals and will be available in August and September.

They will come with an animal health guide to educate the kids on what illnesses to look out for.

We can collect them after pet day if they have nowhere to be kept long term.
