Drake Unified Sports Day

A group of students from the middle school and high school participated in the Drake Unified Sports Day through Special Olympics on Thursday, May 2nd. Unified events are put on as a way for students with disabilities to interact and compete with their peers while gaining social inclusion and creating lasting friendships.

The group participated in modified versions of volleyball and basketball, as well as several different free time activities including yoga, parachute, miniature golf, bocce ball, and relay races. The students had a lot of fun, and did a great job representing Knoxville at this event.

Farm Day!

1st Grade enjoyed visiting the farm! Thank you to the FFA for putting this great learning event together for us! We learned lot of fun facts about animals on a farm and really loved getting to pet the animals.

2nd Grade Field Trips

The Second Grade students have been learning outside of the classroom in recent days with trips to Principal Park and the DesMoines PlayHouse.

West Elementary second graders would like to thank the high school agriculture classes for helping them to replant flowers for a special someone. Thanks to Hy-Vee for generously donating the flowers and soil.
