Celebrate Global Employee Health & Fitness Month with Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo embraces and epitomizes the optimization of total well-being. The personal, social, emotional, financial, and physical components comprising well-being are embedded into the consistent and compelling Team Member experience. Their program is focused on improving the workplace environment to support a healthier culture, increase team member engagement and provide resources to their team members. This month at their San Antonio location they will be promoting physical activity and tying in the mental health component since May is also Mental Health Month. There will be booths set up throughout the month providing content on the benefits of physical activity and a 30-Day Move More calendar with simple activities team members can perform at their desk. Another component to our programming this month will include a Zen Zone experience, which will be a relaxation room set up in stations that reach all the senses. Team members will be able to stop by on their breaks, at lunch and throughout the day to walk through the Zen Zone and leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated.
Mental Health Month
In the United States, approximately 44.7 million adults aged 18 or older experience a mental health condition. When left untreated, mental health conditions carry a significant risk of disability, and in some cases, even death. In fact, over 90% of people who die by suicide have a diagnosable mental health condition. Because over two-thirds of the U.S. population participates in the workforce, it is imperative that we create workplaces that offer a sense of belonging and purpose, qualities of workers wellbeing that can support them when life becomes stressful and unmanageable. The Mental & Behavioral Health Tool Kit is designed to provide resources and support for San Antonio employers, along with guidance for including mental health within their benefit structure. It is our hope that these recommendations and best practices will decrease stigma, increase and enhance help-seeking, and lead to a mentally healthier workforce. Bike to School Day
Ghisallo Cycling Initiatives mission is to develop youth who safely and expertly integrate bicycling into their daily lives, to teach participants self-sufficient cycling skills, and to facilitate the experience needed for youth cyclists to be peer leaders. Our free programming available to San Antonio schools, teach young children in 3rd-5th grade about cycling skills and helmet usage. We help enable our community to access their interests by bicycle and foster a lifelong relationship with cycling. We participate in local community events like Siclovia, SafeKids Day, BikeFiesta and many others. After being awarded a Bike to School grant from SafeKids Worldwide Mandy Fultz, SafeKids SA Project Coordinator, has teamed up with a few local organizations to provide safety material and lessons for the kids at a Northside ISD elementary school. We are collaborating with SafeKids San Antonio from University Health Systems and Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) to celebrate Bike to School day with the kids. These organizations all focus on public safety and creating a safe environment for all members of the community to enjoy recreating. Thanks to SafeKids Worldwide, Ghisallo Cycling Initiative, AAMPO and SafeKids SA, students at Martin ES will be given reflective stickers, bike safety tip sheets, helmet giveaway, hands-on safety lessons and much more.
