TIM BERNERS LEE

Tim Berners Lee is an English computer scientist who invented the world wide web. He was born in June 1955 and is still alive today. Berners Lee went to Oxford. He created the World Wide Web in 1989 and created the first web client and server in 1990. He is the director of the world wide web consortium, which was founded in 1994. Berners Lee also directs the world wide web foundation (2009) and The Web Science Trust (2009). Berner Lee has won many international prizes includng the Millenim Technology prize and the Japan prize.

Alan Turing

Alan Turing was born in 1912 and commited suicide by cyanide poisoning in 1954 after he was found to be homosexual, which was then illegal. He invented the Turing Machine which was a basic computer. He is considered to be the creator of the computer world. Alan Turing went to Cambrige and during the second world war worked at Bletchley Park as a code breaker. After he was convicted of being homosexual, Turing's secure clearence was ended and he was no longer allowed to work with the military and secret service. In 2012 although he was dead, Turing was pardoned.
