News You Can Use
Mark your calendars now--February 20th, We will host our own Cottonwood Olympics. Everyone is invited to Open House, where students will show what they know. Join us from 5:00-7:00 pm in the classrooms, PE, Art, Music and the Library as we showcase our school.
Cottonwood Bond Update--The work has begun. Last week, the students got to watch as the bulldozers and workers started leveling and digging the site for the new addition. They moved a lot of dirt. We are looking forward to seeing what happens next!
USD385 Bond Update--Want to follow the progress throughout the district? Check out the website for news and pictures. Click here
Lost and Found--We have several jackets, coats, and sweatshirts in Lost and Found. We try to remind students to check it out, but we seem to have more lost than found. It is located right by the nurse's office.
Winter Recess—Recess is held outside whenever possible. We all need fresh air and the chance to run around. Teachers monitor wind chills and temperature before going outside. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for cold weather. Coats, hats, and gloves are sometimes a must! If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call.

Counselor's Corner--Marcie Faust
The theme for the 2018 National School Counseling Week is "School Counselors: Helping Students Reach for the Stars." We will celebrate our counselor during the week of Feb. 5-9. This week is intended to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. This year we are celebrating with special dress up days.
Monday-Wear gold!
Tuesday-Dress in your own style!
Wednesday--Do the right thing all day!
Thursday—Dress up showing what career you are interested in!
Friday—Be Kind! Do random acts of kindness!

Nurse's News
The flu season has hit hard this year and we are seeing a variety of symptoms in our health office. It is not too late to get a flu shot.
It is district policy, if your student has a fever or has vomited, they must remain at home until he or she is fever free/ vomit free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Please continue to talk with your students about hand washing, covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the health office in the past. We truly appreciate your support. Currently, we are in need of clean , gently used pants for both boys and girls sizes 4-6, and underwear for girls size 4-6.
Stay Healthy!
