This Week's Theme: PROBLEM-SOLVING
How do you solve a problem? There are lots and lots of ways to tackle a problem! And not every problem can be solved using the same steps.
The key to solving a problem is not only clearly stating what the problem is, but identifying why the problem is occurring in the first place! This is identifying the root cause. [Check out the Vulcan Times from November 9, 2020 if you want to read more about this!]
Once you clearly state what the problem is and find its cause, you can work on designing a solution. Coming up with different options may help you to decide on the best approach. Select the best option, try it, and see how well it worked!
Let's check out one full problem-solving process that is often used by businesses, the
"5 Step Approach:"
- State the problem clearly and specifically.
- Think of two or more potential solutions (after identifying the cause of the problem).
- Choose the best solution to try.
- Try out the solution.
- Measure your final result. Did it work? If not, go back to step 2.
Try following these steps the next time you run into a problem. See if they work for you!
