Thank you to everyone who attended our Community Care Day! Our playground is looking great and ready for students!

We will have our annual meet the teacher ice cream social tomorrow, Friday 8/25, from 2:30 - 3:30 on the playground! We will also have backpacks and supplies for you at this time! We hope to see you there!

The first day of school for 1st-5th grades is Tuesday, August 29! Here are a few reminders about drop-off, pick-up, and the daily schedule:

Pick-up and drop off

• Pick-up and drop off are both at our front entrance. We have a pass through in our parking lot, and you are also welcome to drop off students along the Flavel street sidewalk. Please do not park in the bus zone! This zone is clearly marked with signs and cones. Please follow directions on posted signs as well as staff directions during pick up and drop off times, as this helps us have a safe and organized start and end to the day!
• If you are waiting to pick up students in the afternoon, please wait on the sidewalk or on the steps, as the front entrance area is used for classes to line up. Where each class lines up will be marked with chalk so it will be easy for you to find!
• If you have a dog with you, please keep the dog on leash and on the sidewalk away from the class line up area.
  
• If you are on foot, please cross the street at marked crosswalks only. Traffic moves quickly on Flavel and your safety is important to us.
• Supervision is available outside the school starting at 8:15, and doors open at 8:30. If you will need child care before this time, we have onsite child care through our partners at Champions! You can connect with them by email (taylor.white@discoverchampions.com) or phone (503-952-6647).

• 8:30 Doors open for breakfast (Families are welcome to come into the building and sit with their children at breakfast!)
• 8:45 School Day begins
• 11:50 K-2 Lunch
• 12:15 3-5 Lunch
• 3:00 Dismissal

First Day of School

Families are welcome to walk with their child to the classroom on the first day of school! After the first day we ask that you say goodbye to your child before they leave the cafeteria for their classroom.

The first day of school tends to be a busy time for our office staff, so if you have a non-urgent question, we ask that you call us after 10:00 am.

Mark Your Calendars for Back to School Night!

Back to School Night is Thursday, September 7th from 5:30 - 7:00! Pizza will be served! Spanish and Vietnamese interpretation provided! This is a great opportunity for you to visit your child's classroom and have them give you a tour of all the important places in our school! Back to School Night also serves as our annual Title 1 Meeting, and we will have optional sessions about our ESL and TAG programming.
