The Rock Cycle
The rock cycle is the process of rocks changing forms over and over again. It takes a long time to move from one stage to the next. There are 3 main types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic). It is never-ending.
Examples of Rocks
Schist
Schist is classified as a metamorphic rock because it is a rock altered by heat and pressure. It is formed when shale is exposed to high heat and pressure. It can be found all over the world.
Scoria
Scoria is classified as a igneous rock because it is a rock created by the solidification of molten magma. They are formed when lava cools quickly above ground. They are usually found wherever eruptions have occurred.
Breccia
Breccia is classified as a sedimentary rock because it is formed by the deposition and solidification of sediments. Breccia forms when broken fragments of rocks/minerals debris accumulate (or gather). It is not found in one specific place, but it's usually found where there are rock formations.
