Message from Mr. Cruz
Hello MMS Parents
We made it through our first week of school and with all things considering things went relatively well. I expected some issues with logins and getting use to a new schedule but I am hoping we were able to get things worked out. I do want to inform you about a few things we noticed during this past week.
Students in Zoom meetings:
We would (if possible) like to have the student’s camera on. We understand there may be times for the camera to be off but if at all possible, please make sure the camera is on.
We want students to be as focus as possible. Students laying on their bed or inside a vehicle might make it difficult for them to focus. If students can have a table or desk to work at, that would be best. Consistency will be the key.
Please talk to your child about the importance of limiting distractions. Pets, toys, constantly changing their computer background, and having other objects should not be a part of the zoom meetings.
Students must type their first and last name before entering a zoom meeting. Students will not be let into a zoom meeting if they are not writing their first and last name.
Parents/Family/Pets in Zoom meetings:
Thank you for helping your child log on and making sure they are in the correct zoom meetings. Moving forward we would like for parents and/or other family members to not be in the zoom meetings. We are fine with parents helping their child log on but once class starts we ask that only the student is in the camera.
Teachers in Zoom meetings:
My expectation for teachers is for them to be on a zoom meeting every day. Some days they will be teaching new material and some days they may be there to check in and answer any questions they may have. Please let me know if teachers are not showing up to Zoom meetings.
If your child is in a zoom meeting and is not let in, please email the teacher. We are reminding our teachers to check the waiting room to let students in.
We have included an attendance course for all students. We need all students to click on the attendance course tab every day at the end of third period. There will be a survey for students to take each day. This is how we will determine if your child participated for the day.
I appreciate all of your patience with this transition to virtual learning. Things will get better each week. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you
“Every day may not be a good day, but there is some good in every day”.
