Tiger Talk
October
You are the Umph in Triumph!
Our school theme this year is GEMS. Growth + Engagement + Motivation = Success
This theme seems especially fitting for our current school year! We will get through this challenging time together!
Linked below is the WUSD website that is dedicated to this transition time and has very valuable information and resources. This site has the most up to date information for our WUSD families.
As always, please feel free to call the Schurz office at 920-262-1485 with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you!
From Mrs. Wendt
Schurz Families,
It is hard to believe that October is right around the corner! Thank you to all of our Schurz Families for your dedication to virtual learning this past month. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our parents and our community. We are looking forward to getting students in our buildings very soon!
Mrs. Wendt
School Arrival and Dismissal
7:45-8:00 AM
As we continue to practice safety protocols, it is important that students are not playing on the playground or with students in other grades upon their arrival at school. Due to this, the playground will not be open until 7:45 AM.
From 7:45 - 8:00 AM, you are welcome to drop off your child at the front entrance of Schurz. Students will enter the playground through the recess gate and line up with their classmates, wearing face coverings and maintaining 6 feet of distance.
-Teachers will meet students on the playground, complete the symptom checker, and conduct a temperature check. Any student presenting a temperature at or above 100.4 or with symptoms will be directed to a private area until safely picked up to return home.
-Students will sanitize desks and hands prior to the start of their school day.
Breakfast will not be served in the cafeteria. Breakfast will be served in the classroom for those students who choose to eat breakfast at school.
Dismissal
Schurz Tigers will be using staggered dismissal times to ensure key safety protocols are followed.
Bus Students -2:55 PM
Walking/Taxi Students -3:00 PM
Pick up- 3:05 PM
Students will be dismissed to the playground area. Parents, please wait outside the gate. Once visual contact is made between teacher and parent/guardian picking up, the child will be released out of the gate.
Adult supervision will end at 3:15 PM. It is very important that your child is picked up no later than 3:15.
There is Y Care available at the YMCA if extended hours are needed after school. Busing is available for Y Care students. If interested please see the Y Care Link below.
Adjusted School Calendar
These changes allow for a better balance for the blended instructional model.
Additionally, these changes will allow for time away from school for students and teachers during the potential height of flu season - while also providing an opportunity for a deep cleaning of all our facilities during this critical time to mitigate the spread of infection and support keeping our students, teachers and staff healthy.
Picture Day Information
Schurz will be hosting two picture dates in October to accommodate our blended learning schedule.
-Monday, October 19 for students attending Monday/Tuesday face-to-face days.
-Friday, October 23 for students attending Thursday/Friday face-to-face days.
Picture envelopes will be sent home the first week of blended learning.
2019-2020 Yearbooks are in!
