A Note from the Principal
Although it was a brisk day, we were warmed by the abundant sunshine and the overwhelming support of our 2022 Walk-a-Thon for Catholic Education last week. Our students enjoyed walking the neighborhood with one another along a new route and finding out the winners of our lap walking contest and the coveted Golden Shoe Award. We extend a huge THANK YOU to our always supportive and amazing PTO! Special thanks to Melissa Vogley, PTO committee chair, for her unwavering efforts to make this fundraiser so successful, as well as the PTO committee members Lisa Kane, Colleen Ockenden, Maria Patyk, Grace Powell, Julie Seline, and Janelle Washington. Thank you to the moms and dads who came out and walked with us, helped at activity stations, gave us high-fives, provided us with water and popsicles, and enthusiastically cheered us on!
The money raised at present is just over $27,000, and we THANK YOU, our parents, for your efforts and your support. In case you haven’t heard, Miss Ferrante's fourth graders won the coveted Golden Shoe award for the most laps walked per student (57 laps) than any other class in the school. Congratulations to all who made this a truly wonderful event! We certainly are blessed!
Also, an email blast was sent out earlier today following our full-scale safety exercise/drill. If you missed it, please click on the button below to read the letter. We are very proud of how well our students and faculty/staff responded to the event, and we are grateful to the Highland Heights Police and Fire Departments for being present during this safety exercise/drill.
Sincerely,
Diane Raguz, Principal

Walkathon Wrap-up
Last Friday, our school community took to the streets, enjoying the beautiful fall leaves and weather, walking together through our neighborhood, praying for our prayer intentions, remembering our friends and family on Memory Lane, thanking our generous sponsors and donors, enjoying a popsicle treat and donated water, playing our Walkathon Kahoot, and celebrating our winning classrooms, fundraisers, and lap walkers!
For the second year in a row, we raised over $27,000! A final net earnings report will be provided at an upcoming PTO meeting, once all the expenses have been tallied. As usual, the largest expense by far (nearly $3,000) are the t-shirts and medals, which our students received and wore last week. The spirit wear t-shirts can also be worn on the following monthly scheduled Walkathon t-shirt dress down days throughout the school year (and on any spirit wear days):
Friday, November 18Monday, December 12
Tuesday, January 24

Looking Ahead to Halloween
Halloween is approaching quickly and with it comes various activities. Our Student Council will once again host their games for grades K-2. Some lower grades will also have Halloween activities/parties in their classrooms. If teachers are planning on a party, they will reach out to their room captains.
As a school community, we are asking that parents NOT send in any candy treats for grades K-8. Should a teacher need help with something for Halloween, he or she will reach out to parents for whatever is needed.
Halloween Attire
All students may dress down in orange and black on Monday, October 31. Please, no Halloween costumes for K-8.

Playground Volunteers Needed-Grades 6, 5
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:10 am-12:55 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
Grade 7 families are asked to volunteer in October and Grade 6 families in November.

Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
