Rowe Lane News Updates
Fall is officially here and the weather has been wonderful for outdoor activities! I hope Rocket families are getting to spend some time outside this weekend at baseball/softball fields, football fields, soccer fields, parks, hiking trails, or your backyard.
Planning for the second nine-weeks is already underway! The next window to change your student's learning preference is open. Currently, the method of instruction for your student/s is either on-campus (meaning they physically come to campus for instruction), or virtual (meaning they are physically at home for instruction).
Your child's method of instruction in Skyward reflects his/her current method of instruction. If you want to CHANGE the current method of instruction for the 2nd nine weeks, please complete this form no later than September 30th by 5 pm: https://forms.gle/8mqnbSu9qtFkoVbb8
For the second nine-weeks, there will be no capacity limit and the weighted point system will not be implemented. If you request on-campus learning for your student/s, they will be able to return to Rowe Lane for on-campus instruction beginning October 13th. Schedule adjustments may occur, but we continue to work to minimize changes for our students.

Superintendent Updates, 9/22/2020
Dear PfISD Parents/Guardians,
Wow! Again our students and teachers continue to amaze me. Our first week back with students on campus was a huge success thanks to the combined efforts of our teachers, staff, students and parents. Thank you to each and every one of you for helping make this next step possible. Of course, every new step in our phase-in plan will have some bumps or hiccups for us to learn from. We will take those instances and find ways to improve.
I wanted to provide an update on our next steps. We have met with officials from the Austin Public Health Authority and we are going to hold our numbers at 25% capacity on our campuses through the end of the first 9-weeks grading period. We have the opportunity and ability to keep our numbers on campuses down for two more weeks and we are going to do so through October 8.
When the second 9-weeks grading period begins on Oct. 13, all students who have chosen to participate in on-campus learning will be able to return to campus. We anticipate changes in classes and class sizes as students go from virtual instruction to on-campus instruction, and we will do our best to ensure our on-campus classes have a lower student-to-teacher ratio as a safety precaution.
Parents will need to contact their campus registrar to change their student’s method of instruction as the window closes on Sept. 30.
Also, please note on the academic calendar that Friday, Oct. 9 is a student holiday. It is listed as “conference all levels” on the calendar. This is parent/teacher conference day and there is no school for students on this date. Additionally, Oct. 12 is a student and staff holiday.
Progress Reports in Skyward
Elementary Individual Progress Reports 2 (IPR 2) have been published to the Skyward Parent Portal. Middle and High School IPR2 will be posted on Oct. 1. Parents may review their children’s IPRs by logging into their Parent Portal accounts.
If you do not have access to your Skyward Parent Portal account or need assistance, please email ParentPortal@pfisd.net.

Free & Reduced Meals Applications
Families whose students are eligible for free and reduced meals must re-apply every school year. Safe Stop Bus Registration
Parents may now keep track of their students while they are on the school bus to make sure they arrive safely thanks to a new and improved app from SafeStop through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
This app will allow you to track the bus by viewing a real-time, map-based bus locator. You can create custom zones for each stop and school so you can know when your child’s bus is close to home or campus. The app also allows you to set up email alerts and push notifications in the settings. SafeStop guarantees the privacy of parent and student information.
No more wondering, “Where’s the bus?” Thanks to SafeStop, you will know.
To set up your SafeStop:
- Download the SafeStop app
- Enter the school/district access code: 91520
- Enter your child’s unique Student ID
- Select the bus name you wish to track
- Create alert zones around drop-off and pick-up points
Then, you will be able to track the bus’s movement during active route times and receive notifications when the bus enters your customized alert zones. If you already are using the 2019 version of SafeStop, you will need to delete the app and download the new 2020 updated version in order to utilize the new features.

Thank you again to every one of you for the hard work you have put into this school year so far. We will continue to improve how we teach our students during this time as we make adjustments where needed. We are approaching another step in our phase-in plan in a few weeks and we will all need to work together to make that a success as well. It takes us all – teachers, staff, students and parents to make that happen. Let’s give each other grace and patience when it is needed and praise when it is deserved. We have a lot of wonderful things happening in our classes both in-person and virtually, and those things should be celebrated.
Together we are strong. Together we are a Pfamily. Together we can do anything.

Dr. Douglas Killian
PfISD Superintendent of Schools
Queridos padres/tutores de PfISD:
¡Vaya!

Về Các Giao Thức An Toàn Trong Khuôn Viên Trường
