Waking up too much in the middle of the night? The answer could be what your eating. Studies have shown that eating foods that are hard to digest, such as spicy foods, or beverages that contain a high amount of caffeine, or large amounts of food before bed could be causing insomnia.
Spicy Foods
Spicy foods ,or foods that are hard to digest, are the first kinds of foods that could cause sleep insomnia. The reason being is because the first cycle of sleep is sensitive to sleep and your body needs to slow down before it rests and spicy foods can disrupt that rest causing insomnia.
Caffinated Beverages
The answer to this one is pretty easy. Caffeine is a stimulant that increases heart rate and therefore makes you unable to sleep.
Large Meals
Similar to having spicy foods before bed, your body needs time to digest food before it can rest. Having food right before bed can cause your body to keep you up at night and have stomach pain in the morning.
Foods That Can Help You Sleep
If you want to have a good nights sleep, some foods that can help are those that contain tryptophan , an amino acid that helps promote sleep. Foods that contain tryptophan are cereals and grains and walnuts. You can also eat cheese and dairy products.
