Race Officials are bringing in snow for the race!`
Anchorage usually has an average of 60 in of snow and this year they only 20 inches. They had to move 225 miles north from the normal starting point because of the warm temperatures.The organizers made the decision to move the race when they determined that the temperatures were too unsafe. They also decided to bring in the snow for the race.
The mushers are needed to have different training techniques!
The iditarod organizers said that the officials worked hard to try and proceed with an 8- mile track. Unfortunately though, the temperatures were too warm made it no longer possible to do this year. The organizers also gave advice saying,"A smart musher will train on all conditions throughout the year, and know how to deal with low snow conditions."
