Encore Corner

ESL Reading Cafe

Mr. Bernal and Ms. Skinner hosted a multilingual reading café for our ESL students and community and school volunteers. Participants ate snacks and read and discussed their reading material. It was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible.

Summer Bridge for Math 1

Students currently enrolled in Accelerated Math 6 or AIMM who intend to take Math 1 in 7th grade must take the Summer Bridge course. More information can be found on the letter your child received last week. Please use this QR code to access the registration information.

No-Cost School Meals

The federal waivers that allowed all schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students are ending this summer. To ensure that students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals are able to receive those meals on the first day of school, we are asking parents to fill out the application at or get a paper form from the front office. This will establish a family’s qualifications for meal discounts for the first 30 days of the 2022-23 school year.

A new application must be completed after July 1 for the remainder of the school year.

Personal Technology and End of Grade Tests

EOGs begin on May 26! Please remind your students that per state policies, phones and smart watches are not permitted during testing. Having a smart watch or phone during the tests may result in students having to re-take EOGs.

Virtual Town Hall Meeting Slides

If you weren't able to attend the virtual town hall last week, please see the slides linked here. Reach out to Dr. Bocci and Mr. Martinez-Padilla with any questions you may have.

8th Grade End of Year Events

Cap and Gown Photos will occur on May 6th. See the website for all the details.

Graduation ceremonies will be held in person this year! Your student will receive their invitation this week. There will be two ceremonies, so please be sure to check the invitation for your student's date!

Volunteer Opportunities

Roar Store Donations

Please help us reward students who are consistently on time to class and meet school-wide expectations by supplying our Roar Store! Every morning, students who have earned Den Dollars for their positive behaviors can shop in the Roar Store. Single-serve bags of Takis, chips, and Hot Cheetos, and Gatorade are especially popular! We would also love Sonic or Wendy's gift cards to use for providing special rewards. Contact Dr. Bocci if you have questions at

Swann Lions Athletics
