The Manning Weekly Newsletter

September 11, 2020

Manning Community,

It's been a great week! I've heard some great things about our hybrid learning and our Mobile Mustangs learning experiences this week. Now it's time for a well deserved weekend. A weekend spent with our families, friends, and beloved pets. A weekend spent with no snow and some Colorado sunshine! If you haven't done so yet, please reach out to at least two staff members and tell them how much you appreciate them. Our staff has been working incredibly hard in a very difficult time. Also, we have said goodbye to two of our beloved teachers this week. Ms. Burg applied for and accepted a one year leave of absence and Ms. Putnam had resigned effective October 1st for personal reasons. The Manning community will miss them very much!

Finally, please attend our parent partnership meeting this Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. There will be a principal's report including an update on our budget and our upcoming facilities project. The Zoom link for the meeting is below:

Attendance Issues for Hybrid Students:

Is your child still missing classes while on their online days?

  • Please know we understand how difficult and confusing this can be.
  • We have discovered that the times listed in Infinite Campus are incorrect, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use the schedule breakdown in the button below. You can also find this on the Manning website front page.
  • Please also notice that the AM & PM electives are synchronous on the days when they are at home. They have live zoom calls or google meets, except for the language arts based electives.
  • Please continue to call your child in sick, for appointments and the like.

Hello, Mobile Mustang families!

We hope you had a wonderful Labor Day and we also appreciate that this was a challenging week with schedules shifting one day as well as Jeffco adding a layer of Zoom security but also creating some login issues for students.

As we move into our 4th week, we are learning that students sometimes miss things because we post announcements and they are missed, fault and learning is happening with students and teachers. However, many of the login and technical issues were solvable. We are attaching a link to the Jeffco Support for Devices. Using this list will solve many issues and also provides a number for contact if all is not working. The link you and your child may want to add as a bookmark is

MAPS testing for Mobile Mustangs

Mobile Mustang Attendance Issues:

Does your student continue to miss classes?

  • Please know we understand how difficult and confusing this can be.
  • We have discovered that the times listed in Infinite Campus are incorrect, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use the schedule breakdown in the button below. You can also find this on the Manning website front page.
  • Please continue to call your child in sick, for appointments and the like.

From our PTA!

We hope that you and your families are doing well. The Manning PTA is dealing with the same uncertainties as everyone in our communities, but we are working to provide Manning students with the best experience possible. We invite you to join us in our mission in any or all of the following ways, and we sincerely thank you for your support!

Two of the easiest ways to support Manning are by joining the King Soopers rewards and Amazon smile programs. All you have to do is enroll, and the Manning PTA receives money when you shop- and extended and out of town family can sign up too!

  • Please visit to enroll. We are listed as The Manning School PTA, organization #UY407.
  • On Amazon smile, please select Manning PTA in Golden, Colorado, and remember to go to when you shop.
  • Join the PTA! Membership is only $10 per person. In years past, in order to respect the many demands on your time and money, we have asked families for a $100 donation at the beginning of the school year which is the foundation of our annual budget. This money supports various programming (like grade-level enrichment programs), fulfills teacher wish-list items and provides gifts-to-school (like new lockers and smart TVs). This year we are asking families to give what they can, knowing that we are all facing different financial circumstances. Please click here to join and here to contribute directly today.
  • The PTA makes a huge impact via our committees. Through the dedication of our volunteers, we support the Manning Community in a variety of areas and we welcome new volunteers! The following is a list of our current committees, chairpersons and open positions, some of which take very little time and some that are more involved. Further details can be found on our website. .

Please visit us at and email us any time with any questions or comments at We’re also on Facebook at Manning PTA.

Thank you for helping to make Manning a great school and community!

General meeting will be on zoom on Thursday, September 17 at 9 am

Zoom problems?

The district is forcing all staff and students to login through Clever for safety when attending a Zoom meeting. Here is the link to a tech tip to help you.

If you didn't get your yearbook collected this week, we will be reaching out to schedule appointments for pickup.

Google Classroom & Grades: GOOD HABITS

Students really need to check Google Stream each day, especially during remote learning. Google Stream is the first tab in their Google Classrooms. Many students are jumping to Google Classwork -- the second tab -- on Google Classroom and missing important instructions. In addition, students can view their graded work in Google Classwork, and should get in the routine of checking their grades in Student Portal. Parents can also check grades -- and missing assignments -- in Parent Portal. Thank you for supporting our students!

SEL Corner....A Place to Fill Up your Bucket!

After you finish this sentence; think of 5 strength-based qualities you have...I’ll wait... Keeping our strengths in mind helps build our resiliency and bolster those neural networks in our brains.

Ever feel silly while giving yourself a pep talk or as we like to say in the mental health world, positive self-talk? Me too. Frankly, sometimes when other mental health professionals ask me about these things, self-care included, I have a bit of an internal eye roll. But, much like our veggie intake, these can be easy things to neglect. I wonder if the understandable eye roll comes from a similar place...we think we know where we are with our self-care and positive self-talk. “Oh sure, I eat veggies…” but if we did an inventory of our healthy food intake, in all likelihood, we would see gaps. The same applies to our self-talk and caring for yourselves. There will be gaps. Let’s start by noticing when you are talking kindly to yourself, and then notice when your inner critic is being more vocal than that kind side. Counter your inner critic with those 5 strengths you noted at the start of this paragraph.

Want someone else’s opinion about self-talk? Below is an article from the early Covid-19 times:
