Seeking Lacrosse & Bicycle Volunteers
We are so excited to introduce our P.E. classes to the engaging sport of lacrosse! Ms. Turner just received notice from U.S. Lacrosse that we have received a grant for 30 soft lacrosse sticks and balls! Yay! And this is where YOU come in - we need parent volunteers! We are inviting parents and community members to support our students for these lacrosse lessons this April. Whether you know the sport or not, your support and supervision can help as students learn! Sign-up and details are on the KMS PE page (www.kulshanpe.weebly.com). In addition, you are invited to join us for our Bike and Pedestrian Safety unit in May. This is a super fun and active way to get involved at KMS! Thank you!

We are looking forward to meeting our newest Mariners. Please note: Sehome is still under construction. There are two parking access points for the school: the entrance on the corner of Ferry and Voltaire and the entrance on Bill McDonald Parkway. We recommend that you plan to be a bit early to get a parking spot and have time to walk to the Gym.
Registering for High School Courses
Our high school counselors are visiting Kulshan middle school classrooms to share information and host information sessions about high school and course offerings. In the next two weeks, our 8th grade students will be choosing their high school classes and entering in alternative classes as well, if they do not receive their first choices. Students will complete the online registration process by the end of March. Students and parents can view our district high school course catalog online at any time through the registration process.
Tuesday After-School Girls Coding Club

The musical plays at 7 p.m. on March 1, 2, 8 and 9, and at 2 p.m. on March 2 and 9. Tickets are sold at the door. Bellingham High is located at 2020 Cornwall Avenue.
7th grade Bus Pass Program
On Monday, March 25, Smart Trips and WTA will be at our school, teaching 7th graders how to ride the bus. All 7th graders will receive a FREE quarterly bus pass, unless parents “opt out.” If you would like your child to receive WTA’s April-May-June bus pass, you do not need to do anything. Your child will get their free pass after completing the “how to ride” instruction in late March. If you would NOT like your child to receive a bus pass, please opt out by contacting our school office by March 15. Here is a short video that gives an overview of our 7th grade Bus Pass Program.

Middle School Philosophy:
We encourage all students to participate in sports while in middle school. Our coaching philosophy is to build teamwork, have fun, and improve personal fitness goals. The main purpose of middle school athletics is sportsmanship, not competition. There are no tryouts; everyone makes the team. Students of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Students find that sports participation is an easy and fun way to get to know classmates and other Kulshan students. If your student wants to participate but does not have proper equipment for the sport (e.g. running shoes, shin guards, etc.), just let us know in Student Services or the main office.
Registration:
If your student is interested in participating in a Spring sport, please complete their Skyward registration and turn in a current physical by the registration due date. (Sports physicals are good for 2 years.) Parents only need to complete this process once, so if your child has already participated in a sport this year, you are good to go. Each season, our athletics registrar sends an email to student asking whether they want to participate in the current sports offered, so your student will need to reply to that email.
ASB fee:
All students participating in sports are required to pay a one-time $10 ASB fee. This fee is good for all athletics and activities for that school year. If the $10 fee is an obstacle, please contact us in Student Services or our main office so we can provide a scholarship for your student.

Click here for general Kulshan Athletics information about registration. Or you can contact our Athletics Registrar at lisa.scott@bellinghamschools.org for specific questions.
