Updates from the Guidance Department - Mrs. Frazer
National Honors Society
Last Friday students who met the cumulative GPA requirement (3.8) were given an application to the National Honors Society. Those applications are due back to the main office no later than 3:30 on Monday February 5th.
Scheduling for senior year
This week is the open scheduling window for all 11th grade students. Please make sure to visit the BHS Guidance scheduling page for more details and instructions on how to register for your classes for next year: https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/Page/1447
The window for scheduling for your classes will close on Monday January 29th.
Mrs. Frazer will then be meeting with all students during their English classes throughout the month of February to discuss their choices, answer questions, and make any necessary changes.
More information can also be found on our Team 2019 website where we have posted the presentation from our Junior Parent Meeting: https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/Team-2019.
SAT
College visits
We encourage all juniors to visit a college campus of interest this school year. Spring break is a good time to get in a visit without missing school. You must sign up for an official college tour at the colleges’ website in advance of your visit. Students may miss up to 2 school days this year for a campus visit. The documentation for this should be submitted prior to missing school for the day or turned in upon your return from the visit. Student attendance will be marked unexcused until we have received the proper documentation of the visit.
21st Century Scholars
As a reminder, to remain eligible for the scholarship, in addition to a 2.5 cumulative GPA, students must complete college readiness requirements and log them on their scholar track account. For junior year students must search for scholarships (in Naviance), take and SAT or ACT exam, and complete a college visit. Please have them log their activities at www.in.scholars.gov.
If you have questions on any of these topics please reach out to Mrs. Frazer (rfrazer@brownsburg.k12.in.us)

Reminder of Lanyard Costs
Our daily practice of wearing lanyards and IDs causes a lot of wear and tear. Now may be a good time to purchase a new lanyard or ID as we head into this second semester. Please have your student see Mrs. Matherly in the Team 2019 office. Lanyards may be purchased for $2, IDs may be purchased for $3.
Student Health – Immunization Requirements
As we begin looking towards senior year, we want to remind everyone about immunization requirements set by the Indiana Department of Health. Beginning in 2014, all students are required to update their vaccinations for grade 12.
Requirements are:
●Hepatitis A (2 doses) now required for grades 4, 6 and 12
●HPV has been added as a recommendation for grades 6-12
●Annual influenza has been added as a recommendation for all ages.
●Meningococcal MCV4 second dose is still a requirement for grade 12.
(Please note: Meningococcal Serogroup B (MenB) has remained a recommendation for grade 12.)
Please do not hesitate to contact our Clinic staff with any questions or concerns. They can be reached at (317) 852-2258 Ext. 1503 or by emailing relam@brownsburg.k12.in.us or mcarrel@brownsburg.k12.in.us
